Roots flowmeter, also known as waist wheel flowmeter, is a high-precision measuring instrument mainly used for continuous or intermittent measurement of gas or liquid flow in pipelines. It belongs to a type of volumetric flowmeter, which has the characteristics of high accuracy, good reliability, light weight, long service life, and low operating noise.
The measuring medium suitable for Roots flowmeter includes but is not limited to non corrosive gases such as artificial gas, city gas, propane, nitrogen, inert gas, etc. These gases are commonly used in industrial production and daily life, with high requirements for measurement accuracy and reliability.
The basic working principle of a Roots flowmeter is to measure fluid flow by rotating a pair of synchronously rotating rotors in a pipeline filled with medium, using the volume change between the rotors. This type of flowmeter is suitable for measuring dry and wet gas (i.e. associated gas), and is not sensitive to flow, but may produce significant noise when the lumbar wheel rotates at high speeds.
